Five haycocks complete and this is base of the sixth. This compared to photo XAW009536 gives the timeline for the shoot. with the sun apparently moving from right to left across the sky. see house pin. |

This photo is one of 18 taken of this property. It must have been commissioned. It is unlocated. There are many discrepancies in the series. XAW009532 to XAW009544 and XAW009915 to XAW009919
From my reading of the scene the haymaking tells much about the sequence of the shoot.
ALL were taken on the same day but details say most taken on 15/08/1947 with five taken on 03/09/1947. The majority of haymaking took place in June not Aug and Sept.
Five photos ( ..9540 to ..9544) were taken an hour or two later than the others. (More haycocks made)
However this leads to another conundrum. The shadows are wrong !! Either the photos were taken in the southern hemisphere (unlikely) or the negative was reversed.
Finally it is supposed to be in Ireland. From my investigations I believe that it is very unlikely to be on the island of Ireland. |
