' Entrance to the disused railway tunnel from Ramsgate Harbour Station (closed 1926). In 1936 a 2 foot narrow gauge line was opened to connect the old station with a new station at Hereson Road, 250 yards from Dumpton Park station (Southern Railways), this line ran almost entirely underground and closed following an accident in 1965. During WW2, the tunnel formed part of Ramsgate's deep air raid shelter tunnels which, in total, in total could accommodate 60,000 people although the town population was 33,000. Source: Wikipedia. '
