Bristol Aeroplane Co. Engine Department "West Works". Based around three triple-bay hangars this was where the Engine Department was founded in 1920 when Roy Fedden brought his prototype Jupiter engines from the bankrupt Cosmos business.
A 1959 merger created Bristol Siddeley which merged with Rolls-Royce in 1966.
West Works were demolished in 1996(?)and the Post Office built a large sorting office on the site. '
