The use of containers left no trade for general cargo ships. Moss Hutchinson- the Moss comes from an early shipper James Moss of 1815. In 1916 the line was owned by Royal Mail Steam Packet Company. After WW1 they only had two ships left. The company was used to buy J & P Hutchinson and the two companies merged under the joint title in 1934. In 1935 a P&O subsidiary bought the merged company.
