Terminus of trolleybus route 654 which ran to / from Crystal Palace. One of the earliest conversions from trams (8th December 1935) and was included as part of stage one (3rd March 1959) of the trolleybus to diesel bus conversion programme. The terminus here at Bushey Road was an extention to the tram route which terminated in Benhill Avenue. A unique part of the LT system seen here in Sutton was the use of silver painted, fluted poles to carry the overhead wires. There were 42 of them (for aesthetic reasons) along the extention from Benhill Avenue to the terminus in the High Street. '
