Reading Gaol - note the overgrown state of the grounds, the prison had been closed for over 11 years. It was reopened at the outbreak of the Second World War for the internment of detained foreigners, but never used for this. It was briefly used for displaced young offenders and then handed over to the Canadian Army for use as a military prison. Source:
