The Gypsy Field. Our own recreation ground. There was a playground at the Rizla end with swings and roundabouts. Sunday mornings were for young boys football. just coats for goal posts.
The name has a derivation. Up to the 1920s this part of Alperton was wasteland, and used by gypsies to live on, and handle the results of their rag and bone trade. After the War a small yard was used on the Harrow Road which backed on to Stonebridge Rec. '
