This land became part of the Woodlands School during the late 1950s. This was used as a football pitch and still had traces of the very old ridge / furrow land usage. This made football quite entertaining! There was a tradition at Woodlands that at the end of the school summer term 6th formers who were leaving applied for temporary jobs at Masseys to undertake the annual stock taking during the Industrial Holiday Fortnight that followed the end of term. I spent my first 2 weeks at work doing this job. '
