Hangars 2, 3 and 4 [L to R] part of the first maintenance base. ------------ Initially used by BOAC and then British Eagle up to 1968. Reverted then back to BOAC for operational support facilities/cargo handling etc till the late 1980's. ------------ Hangar 2 demolished 1990ish as part of hangar development for British Midland. Hangar 3 demolished and site utilised first by Air India then American Airlines. Hangar 4 site, after hangar demolition;[I think]was first used by Airport Fire service and then latterly Virgin Airlines hangar was built on the site.

Approximate site of the hamlet of Heath Row from which the airport was eventually named. I also attach a map of the area from 1891. Heath Row can be found in the centre.
