Foxley Road Ambulance station

Bombed site at corner of Foxley & Camberwell New Roads. It was redeveloped in 1954 and and became the site of Mercedes Benz's first post war dealership, workshop and showroom, in the UK.. There very few sales but the workshops were busy with servicing pre-war vehicles still in ownership and those imported by returning servicemen from Germany. My school was close by, located on a wide straight road and the service mechanics regularly tested vehicles along it. By 1959 the dealership had moved to Brentford.
