Its 10000, as L M S can just be discerned on it's side in large letters. (10001 did not have these, as it went into service after the formation of British Railways.) |

It's one of the first mainline diesel locomotives by the way and how do I know? It's distinctive shape, it's colour, they were black with a silver roof and the fact there were only two of them. The first one complete by the L.M.S and carring those large letters on the side and it's number 10000. The second one came after British Railways came into being and at first had no ownership lettering except the fleet number 10001. |

How you would actually know this I shudder to think, but I'm glad you do. And I'm proud to say I can usually 'out-anorak' the best of 'em. [I can't take myself too seriously] Now, you sir, have me beat... Great. Love it. |
