site of kibworth tractor & car co the repair workshops of cyril and george glover refurbishing ex ministry vehicles collected from government surplus sales at ruddington disposal site in nottingham. the site was sold and cleared for housing redevelopment in the late 1980s. |

the bank light originally powered by gas from the kibworth gas and coke company in new road till the 1950s when it was converted to electricity remounted onto a concrete plinth and incorporated into a traffic roundabout when the square was redeveloped to cope with the increase in motor cars and bus use. a bus stand would be built by the old school and library next to paget st |

a cattle waggon alongside the holding and loading pens on the cattle sidings that ran back to roughly where "tin bridge" stands today |

kibworth cattle sidings and holding pens with a spur to the sand drying sheds for the locomotive drive wheels. dry sand was feed down a tube and deposited just in front of the wheel and track when needed to add traction to the wheels as the train pulled away the sand had to be dry so as to flow freely down the guide tube without blocking. trains to day still use sand in the same way. a youtube clip shows a train using sand the same way |

sidings running up to and under school road bridge to buffer stops the other side of the bridge the old line end stops were still to be seen in the field hedge in the early seventies long after the tracks had been removed. google maps show the shadow of the sidings and its route to the stops at the end of the line at the field hedge. following the line south and over the other by other platform the building yard coal yard and coke works siding to new road bridge. for off loading wagons into the gas works yard via a sloped embankment |

just visible the staircase from the station platforms up onto station st bridge survived till the late 1960s when the station closed to passenger traffic in the beeching cuts to the rail network once removed the entrances off the bridge was bricked up and the platforms removed |

the old junior school later converted to a physics and biology labs for the school road high school when the high school moved to its purpose built site on smeeton road in the mid 1970s it was then used as a doctor's surgery and medical center |

the old primary school girls entrance and boys entrance on the opposite side of the building an extension of a classroom on the north side was used as a maths classroom in the seventies while the girls class room was made into a metal workshop and the boys room was a woodworking shop the playground facing the square would have the village library built on it in 1960s and the rear playground would become a village car park in the 1980s |

the kibworth station was a busy place in its heyday with a cattle sidings goods yard and gasworks siding a busy goods yard with a covered goods shed and coal merchant operating out of the same site a shunt engine operating in the goods yard with the gas works in the background |
