| This is St. John the Evangelist church, I was christened there and dragged every sunday morning there for the sunday service by my mother - a keen mothers union member of St johns. It was connected with the primary school in King st on the heights also called St johns and where we we based as the Church Lads brigade. |

| Kidd's fish and chip shop was about here in the 50's/ 60s. Stingy portions, but sublime quality. |

And the 70s/early 80s - still miserable portions but extremely good fish. The owner sold his recipe to Neils Friary on Langworthy Road. |

| The bowling green to the left of the photo is at King Street library and still functions. The bowling green to the right has now gone but the Conservative Club building is still standing though no longer used as such. |

I stand corrected over the church name. We lived along Swinton Park Road in the 50's/ 60's and the sound of the Lads' Brigade bugles was a frequent feature of Sunday mornings. |

I wonder if you can recall a mens barbor just on corner of claremont and the junction of the east lancs. I think he was called micky price. I'm doing my fam hist and would like to get my facts right. He was hair cutting end of the 50's when I left the area. |

The barber referred to by Gordw was Dickie Price. He was a keen Swinton RLFC fan and the shop was full of Swinton memorabilia. He could cut a lad's hair in around a minute but styling was on the basic side! |

My great grandfather was a coal merchant at 280 Bolton rd Irlams o th Height. I am sure I can see steam wagons in his yard behind 280 Bolton road.If the original photo was of sufficiently good resolution I would be able to confirm that. |
