' Bomb damaged properties over an extensive area of Brettenham Road (note repaired roofs to houses on lefthand side) caused by a pair of Land-Mines dropped in a german air-raid of October 1940 in an entirely residential area. To the right can be seen the temporary pre-fab roads named Penn Road & Norman Road set up in Lloyd Park. William Fitt Secondary School(later Aveling Park School from 1992), was built here in 1962. For some unknown reason the council decided in the late 1990s to rename this original section of Lloyd Park, Aveling Park! '
