' PERRY BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER TAME...ALSO KNOWN AS THE ZIG-ZAG BRIDGE AND BUILT IN 1709. IT REPLACED A WOODEN HORSE BRIDGE BUILT IN 1612. THERE WAS ANOTHER BRIDGE CROSSING THE RIVER NEARBY MENTIONED IN 1309 BEING THE FIRST....PRVIOUSLY THEY USED THE ROMAN FORD CROSSING. (c.f. HOLFORD (or OLDFORD) would take its name from this river crossing) THE ZIG-ZAG BRIDGE CONSISTS OF 12 ARCHES BUT ONLY 3 ARE NOW VISIBLE. '
