Statue of William Harvey, the discoverer of the circulation of the blood by the heart. The bronze statue is standing, one foot slightly forward, one hand on his breast (i.e. recollecting the pulse of the heart), the other, less subtly, holding a human heart. He wears a short tunic embroidered on the front, breeches tucked into his high leather boots, and over all, a great cloak, draped over each arm and hanging to his feet at the back and sides. The statue is raised up on a square pedestal. The sculptor was Albert Bruce Joy, a portrait sculptor who won many commissions for public memorials across England. '
