' Railway spur running from the Midland mainline and around the eastern, northern and western perimeter of Hendon aerodrome, continuing to the aircraft production facilities adjacent to the Edgware Road. It was constructed to service the wartime aircraft production facilities that had appeared on the site during WW1. By the time this photograph was taken, it was already disused and out of commission and it would soon disappear entirely beneath more recent development. The course of the old spur crossed the route of what was later to be (in 1924) the Edgware extension of the Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway (Northern Line). Practically the only trace of the spur remaining is an old engine shed located in Montrose Playing Fields, which is now used for storage. '
