Here can just be discerned the feint outline of a bifurcated railway siding that ran off the Stanmore branch here. It was built to supply a local farmer (John Bransgrove) with waste material(?) transported from London, which he used to plough into his land. The siding pre-dated the suburban development at Belmont and the building of the railway halt on the other side of the bridge. '
