' Middle one of the three original Holme locks which led down to the River Irwell and then onto the Manchester Ship Canal at Woden Street footbridge. The locks were upgraded in the early 1960’s to speed up the grain traffic from the docks to Kellogg’s factory in Trafford Park. Holme locks are no longer in use and the link with the ship canal is now through Pomona lock. '
