Barges moored in the basin on the other side of the railway track from Chelsea Creek. The basin was accessed from the Creek via a lock which passed under the railway.
The lock and railway bridge can be seen in the Peter Sellers 1973 film The Optimists of Nine Elms which used a number of locations next to Chelsea Creek. '
