' This area we called the 'field'. It provided the children living in Sherbrooke Gardens with an all year round playground- we'd learn at a young age to jump water filled ditches, to climb trees, make bows and arrows and all the things you'd normally associate with country living. It was a fantastic place to grow up - we felt safe and were never really far from home. All our Mother had to do to get us to come home was to stand at the back door and bang a saucepan...and we were sure to come running. '
