' The original Travellers Rest pub. I believe that there was once a beer shop called the Three Horseshoes on the site. It was replaced by the Travellers Rest at the start of the C20th. The building now present is the Rest Hotel as rebuilt in 1933. The largest pub in Middlesex. Lauded in the 60s when it was run by a guy called Joe Mercer who kept very high standards. A very popular venue for large functions, very often held in the Carlton Room at the rear. Now a very dowdy looking Beefeater restaurant situated in an equally down-at-heel Kenton. '
