A driver examining or pumping up the front tyre/wheel of a Morris 8 van. these vans were very popular in the fifties and extensively used by the GPO and Post Office.

Great to see the original Countess Wear garage which is now an ultra modern Shell.

I wonder if the big net is behind the goal which was necessary to stop the ball going onto the By-Pass.

I played on this pitch many times between 1965 and 1967 and still in use today!

Great to see the coach that has brought the away hockey or football team to King George V.

Hockey match, suggests that it is not a Sunday.

August 30th 1953 was a Sunday and I'm not convinced that this is a Sunday photo. The football teams on King George V suggests it was a Saturday or Wednesday afternoon as the council did not allow organised football on their pitches on Sundays in the fifties and it was on these two days that organised football ran in Exeter. In addition there seems so little traffic around on what is part of the Exeter By-Pass.
