Stanmore - Metropolitan, Bakerloo and Jubilee line station. Here as opened by the Metropolitan 10.12.1932, with goods yard and before transfer to Bakerloo 20.11.1939. The Goods yard was short lived, closing 31.03.1936, being converted and enlarged to become stabling sidings for tube trains. Stanmore was transferred to the Jubilee line 01.05.1979. The picture shows the later stages of the Metroland phenomenon, which was cut short by the events of September 1939. Today most of the landscape seen here is full of semi-detached houses attracted by the easy access to the centre of London provided by the railway.
