These buildings on the corner of COLMORE ROW and NEWHALL STREET were replaced with a multi floor tall building occupied by THE NATIONAL WESTMINSTER BANK (NATWEST BANK). This bank was taken over by THE ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND (RBS) which then occupied the site. After RBS was bailed out by the government following the banking crisis of 2008, this building was vacated and left empty. In 2017 it was demolished to be replaced with an even taller skyscraper, by its owner BRITISH LAND, on the same footprint. Construction is still in progress as of Feb 2020. |

BENNETTS HILL. In the sixties and seventies the buildings on the far side were derelict and only the facades were left. They have subsequently been refurbished and rebuilt to become opulent business offices. |
