THIS TEMPLE LIKE BUILDING BELONGED TO 'THE BIRMINGHAM BANKING COMPANY' (BBC). CARVED OVER THE ENTRANCE ARE THESE INITIALS. THIS EVENTUALLY BECAME THE 'BIRMINGHAM AND MIDLAND BANK'. THEN THE' MIDLAND BANK' WHICH WAS THEN TAKEN OVER BY 'THE HONK KONG AND SHANGHAI BANKING CORPORATION' (HSBC). THE BUILDING IS NOW A BAR/RESTAURANT BUT STILL HAS THE 'MIDLAND BANK' SIGNAGE ONTHE OUTSIDE. |

THIS WAS THE HEAD OFFICE OF 'THE BIRMINGHAM MUNICIPAL BANK'. IN 1974 IT JOINED THE 'TRUSTEE SAVINGS BANK CONSORTIUM', AND CHANGED ITS NAME TO ' THE BIRMINHAM MUNICIPAL TRUSTEE SAVINGS BANK'. AND THEN TO 'TSB' . AFTER STOCK MARKET FLOTATION, THE WHOLE OF THE TSB BANKING SYSTEM WAS TAKEN OVER BY 'LLOYDS BANK' BECOMING 'LLOYDS TSB'. AFTER THE BANKING CRISIS IN 2008, TSB WAS DEVOLVED FROM LLOYDS, TO PROCEED AS SEPERATE ENTITIES AGAIN. THIS BUILDING IS AT PRESENT (JULY 2020) STILL UNOCCUPIED. |

THIS IS STILL CALLED 'THE MINORIES'. ORIGINALLY, AS SHOWN, IT WAS A ROAD FOR VEHICULAR TRAFFIC EXTENDING FROM TEMPLE ROW TO OLD SQUARE. AFTER THE 'REDEVELOPMENT' OF OLD SQUARE, A SET OF STEPS WERE CONSTRUCTED AT THE JUNCTION WITH 'THE MINORIES' EFFECTIVELY ENDING THROUGH TRAFFIC. ' THE 'MINORIES' HAS BEEEN RESURFACED WITH A COLOURFUL PAVEMENT FOR PEDESTRIANS ONLY. |

CUPPOLA OF THE 'GREAT WESTERN ARCADE' ALONG WITH THE BARREL VAULTED ORIGINAL GLASS ROOF. (THIS HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH AN APEX ROOF). THE ARCADE WAS BUILT WHEN THE RAILWAY CUTTING WAS COVERED OVER, MAKING THE TUNNEL, AFTER THE LINE WAS EXTENDED FROM SNOWHILL STATION TO MOOR STREET STATION AND BEYOND. IT ALSO BECAME PART OF THE COVERED ROUTE FOR PASSENGERS BETWEEN SNOWHILL STATION AND NEW STREET STATION. |

ST CATHERINE OF SIENNA RC CHURCH. OPENED IN 1875 WITH ADDITIONS IN 1893. THE TOWER AND BELFRY DATE FROM 1909.
THIS CHURCH WAS SWEPT AWAY WITH THE WIDENING OF BRISTOL ST/HORSEFAIR AND A NEW CHURCH WAS BUILT TO A CIRCULAR DESIGN, A LITTLE FURTHER BACK FROM THE NEW CARRIAGEWAY. |

BUILT IN 1864 AS A LIBRARY, BUILDING QUICKLY ACQUIRED BY THE 'BIRMINGHAM JOINT STOCK BANK' WHICH HAD STARTED IN 1861,. IT MERGED WITH 'LLOYDS BANK' IN 1889 AND LLOYDS CONTINUED USING THE BUILDING. CONVERTED INTO A PUB IN 1997, WITH THE 95 SEAT THEATRE OPENING IN 2006.

THE 'WEST END CINEMA'....OPENED AS 'CURZON HALL' IN 1864, FOR EXHIBITIONS. BY 1899 IT WAS SCREENING 'LIVING PICTURES'. CLOSED DURING WWI AND REOPENED AS 'THE WEST END CINEMA AND DANCE HALL' AFTER REFURBISHMENT IN 1925. A WURLITZER ORGAN FITTED IN 1926 BY THE NEW OWNERS 'PROVINCIAL CINEMATIC THEATRES'(PCT) WHO THEMSELVES WERE TAKEN OVER BY 'GAUMONT BRITISH THEATRE CORP.'IN 1929. GAUMONT BECAME PART OF THE 'RANK ORGANISATION' WHO RAN IT UNTIL CLOSURE. THE ORGAN WAS REMOVED IN 1965, RANK CLOSED IT AND THEN REPRIEVED IT, SOLD FOR REDEVELOPMENT IT FINALLY CLOSED IN 1967. 'ALPHA TELEVISION' (ATV CENTRE) WAS BUILT ON THE SITE IN 1969. |

THE REMNANTS OF ST THOMAS'S CHURCH, BATH ROW.....NOW THE LOCATION OF THE 'PEACE GARDEN'..ALONG WITH THE WWI MEMORIAL COLONADE RELOCATED FROM BROAD STREET IN 1989 WHEN THE ICC AND CENTENARY SQUARE WERE CONSTRUCTED.
THE FOUNDATION STONE OF ST THOMAS'S NEO-CLASSICAL CHURCH WAS LAID IN 1826 AND CONSECRATED THREE YEARS LATER. DESTROYED BY WWII BOMBS AND NOT REBUILT, AND IS THE ONLY REMAINING DAMAGED BUILDING FROM THE BLITZ STILL STANDING. |
