Nurses Chapel.
Until the 1980's a small chapel stood here, used by the nurses in the nurses home on Howard's road. It was reachable by the use of a small alley and steps that led from the junction of Third/Second Avenue and Howard's Road.
Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense used this area as one the locations of the film - And The Wall Came Tumbling Down (1984) Staring Gareth Hunt.
The scene at 40 minutes shows the interior of the chapel. (the 'church' in the film is not this building
The scenes of all the ruined terraced streets were shot in First, Second and Third Avenue, which were being demolished as part of the areas rejuvenation.

On this site was a Methodist Church and sunday school (shows on 1939 O map)
"In 1880 a 900-seater new church was built in High Street. Membership grew from 303 in 1904 to 408 in 1914. But in 1940 it was 141 with 81 members evacuated and in 1941 a bomb destroyed the building. Services continued in the near-by Given-Wilson Institute to 1942 and then the remaining congregation joined Harold Road (U) in 1962. The site is now flats."
