Peterborough's first power station - Closed in the late 1940's and demolished to make way for the larger power station that was itself demolished in the late 1970's!The coal for this original station was all delivered on the left hand side of the LNER main line. When the new power station was built the increased coal capacity necessitated a new rail connected coal storage yard on the west side of the railway tracks, this coal was fed by conveyor over the railway to the eastern side for the power station.
