Red Noses/New Brighton 5.25" Anti Aircraft Battery. From it's location it was probably intended to function as a dual purpose CA/AA Battery. This photo clearly shows the magnitude of the task facing the directors of New Brighton football club in reviving the club after WW2. Having lost everything when their ground in Rake Lane was bombed and then requisitioned for housing they were fortunate that the Tower Grounds were available. Although a League ground fifty years previously its basic unsuitability for the job, particularly for a club with small crowds, is obvious.
