Very interesting.That is the 2nd prototype,which was the civilian version,& had faired nose & tail. The 1st proto'was built for turrets n.&t. but to my recollection( an apprentice there 1945-'47)these were metal blanks. The large hanger at that end was No.18 & the a/c on the hard standing there with dorsal fairings are either Seafords (Sunderland IV's) or the civilian version, Solents. |

![]() This is the Dinky Supertoys Short Shetland die cast toy plane - made to 1:192 scale. The civilian version was the one that was made by Dinky - the only other Shetland built and flown was the military version which had a different cockpit - somewhat similar in overall appearance to the Stirling's cockpit - and gun turrets provided in nose and tail. |
