The parish church of St Aidan. It has memorials to Grace Darling in the church & churchyard and the Grace Darling Museum is now in the RNLI building opposite. See http://www.staidan-bamburgh.co.uk. The attached photo was taken on the 11th October 2014. |

Lifeboat Cottage, but now known as The Boathouse. This was one of the first lifeboat stations to be built in Britain in the early 1820's and is now a holiday let. The lifeboat station is now at Seahouses. The attached photo taken on the 11th October 2014 shows the large lintel above where the large doors used to be. |

Shipwrecks were common on this stretch of coastline and a Dr John Sharp (1722 - 1792) who was resident at the castle founded what is recognised as the first coastguard system in the world.
