Franklin's Gardens. Still the home ground of Northampton Saints Rugby Club. It used to have an open air swimming pool, which I think is visible here. |

I have to point out that the first station in Northampton was the Bridge Street station on the LNWR line from Blisworth to Peterborough (Nene Valley Line), which opened in 1845. St John's station didn't open until 1879 when the branch from Bedford was completed. Castle station only existed from 1859 when a branch was built from Bridge Street station northwards to Market Harborough, but became the main station once the south and north links to the West Coast main line were completed 1880/1881. |

All Saints Church was almost completely destroyed in the Great Fire of Northampton in 1675 and the rebuilt church was consecrated and opened in 1680. |
