The spoil, was actually land that was built up by the railway when the Sheffield District Railway's goods yard was built by diverting the Don, I believe, a total of three times. As such it was fresh material, probably from the diversions and the railway cuttings @ Tinsley, and not industrial waste. So little if any pollution when originally built. Subsequent use as a scrap yard has no doubt changed this. |

| Relatively new all steel 16 ton mineral wagon. These were built as long overdue replacements for the thousands of life expired wooden 10 ton mineral wagons, many of which were over forty years old. Unfortunately the working life of the steel wagons was not so long as the coal trade either slipped away or vehicles were superseded gravity discharge wagons. |
