 In this field adjoining chalky hill I found many ,dozens of small cannonballs and was told this is where troops stopped in preparation for the battle of cheriton in 1644 its all grape vines now. |

| This triangle was used by HCC to store gravel chippings on in early 50's but disappeared completely by 1955 along with the large oak tree to the south west of it. |

Wield Road, the road to Upper and Lower Wield, was previously known as Green Lane, and Red Barn Farm on Wield Road was formerly known as Green Lane Farm. Green Lane Farm is mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon charter of King Ine in 701, which defined the boundaries of the Liberty Of Alresford, including Grenmenes stigele or Green Lane Farm. |
