Correction: The stretch of the canal from New Cross Gate (or very near it) to Croydon was a separate venture: the Croydon Canal. The "Grand Surrey Canal" provided that canal's link with the Thames. The junction between the two canals was in the vicinity of what is now Cold Blow Lane. |

Both my older brother & myself attended this school. In my case until I was 6 yesr old when we moved to the other end of the borough (of Deptford, later joined with Lewisham). |
