Vessel is the British "flatiron" collier "FULHAM IX", built earlier in 1948 for the British Electricity Authority, London. She supplied electricity power stations, mainly in the Thames, with coal from the North East of England and her low profile allowed navigation to upriver London power stations. She was sold in 1970 to Greek owners. See also image EAW020489.

Leslie- is there any particular reason that you think it is Fulham 1X ? The vessel is undoubtedly very similar to Fulham 1X as photographed in the archive in 1954, but there were many of these "flat-iron" colliers in service all to a very similar design. This is the only picture I have seen of one with a grey hull, though: I don't know if this is significant.
