TSS "Empress Queen". Built 1940 for P&A Campbell as their first turbine steamer, she was used on the Stranraer -Larne service during part of the war and returned to her owners in 1946. Tried unsuccessfully on South Coast services and on the Bristol Channel, she sailed out of Torquay in 1951 but was too large for the traffic available and was thereafter laid up in Bristol until her sale, to Greek owners, in 1955. |
