Government Offices, Brockley Hill.
This site at Canons Corner had a variety of uses. It was once part of the GCHQ network as an intercept station for the Free Polish Government. It was put to other government departmental uses, chiefly connected with the Ministry of Defence. Over time, the site outlived its usefulness and its footprint steadily diminished until the last vestiges were sold off and redeveloped in the 1990s. |

This was to be the site of the motive power depot for the uncompleted Northern Line extension from Edgware to Bushey Heath. The site was utilised during WW2 for military aircraft production under the management of London Transport.
After the war, the site was put to use for the overhaul of the London Transport bus fleet. In 1956, the state-of-the-art Aldenham Bus Overhaul Works was opened on the site. Operations continued here until the works wase closed at the end of 1986. The site has since been sold and redeveloped. |

This is the route of the ill-fated 'New Works Programme' Northern Line extension from Edgware to Bushey Heath. The work was started, but was suspended at the outbreak of WW2. The work was not resumed and the project had been abandoned at about the time of this photograph. |
