Was Somertons ever here? This is up by Roxborough Bridge. The Somertons I remember was College Road at the junction with Clarendon Road. |

Correction. The Laird is quite right. Somertons was on the corner of College Road and Clarendon Road. My flag is outside the shops near to the Roxborough Arms. |

Is this the site that was MacFisheries supermarket in 1968 -71 approx.? I lived there then and used the supermarket - a weeks' shop cost £7.00 including a bottle of plonk! |

Coventry Kid, for some reason there is no 'reply to this comment' available on yours. It was MacFisheries around that time. From memory I reckon Coliseum Theatre was closed around 1958 and demolished about 1961 being replaced with 'Premier' Harrows very first 'Supermarket' It changed several times, but was MacFisheries for a number of years. |

JamesMac - after a long delay have just found your response to my Comment below about MacFisheries - thank you! |

I think that Mac Fisheries were, in turn, subsumed by International Stores. There was another Mac Fisheries store in Preston Road that also became an International ("Nice people with nice prices") Many high streets had a smaller Mac Fisheries wet fish shop. |

It was opened this same year as the Electric Cinema by the then MP; Oswald Mosley (later leader of the British Union of Fascists). The change of name to the Coliseum probably taking place when it reopened a few years later as a theatre. |

I believe this was originally called the Electric Cinema. It was opened in 1920 by the then MP for Harrow.... Sir Oswald Mosley (later leader of the British Union of Fascists). Within a few short years the cinema was closed and the venue reopened as the Coliseum Theatre. |

Yes I agree the Coliseum Cinema later Theatre. It is still being built here, but the column towers for the cupolas are visible there at the front. |
