Metropole and Grand Hotels to foreground, with Kent College School on Grimston Avenue (halfway between Grand and top of picture). Kent College used the land to the west (left) of Metropole for sports. Their archives (school now at Pembury) show many team pictures with the Metropole in the background. This was also the early home of Folkestone Optimists Hockey Club. |
