PUB NOW KNOWN AS THE 'BRASSHOUSE'....PREVIOUSLY THE OFFICES OF THE BIRMINGHAM WATER COMPANY WHICH PROVIDED B'HAM RESIDENTS WITH WATER AND ALSO PURCHASED THE ELAN VALLEY DAM AND RESERVOIR. THE BCW WAS EFFECTIVELY CONFISCATED BY THE GOVERMENT AND FORMED PART OF THE SEVERN TRENT WATER COMPANY WHICH WAS FLOATED ON THE STOCK MARKET WITH THE GOVERNMENT KEEPING THE PROCEEDS. BEFORE THAT IT WAS THE OFFICES OF THE BRASS FOUNDRY WITH THE KILNS OCCUPYING THE SITE ALONG THE LEFT CANALSIDE (NOW THE SITE OF BRINDLEY PLACE ETC TOWARDS THE SEA LIFE CENTRE) |
