Later research suggests that this was not a pub but a general store and off license. |

Based on EPW028247 the building actually changed prior to 1929. Perhaps when the buildings along side on Cheam Road were also built? |

Houses in Grove Road, before most of them had shops built in their front gardens. Only one remains mostly original as a firm of solicitors. |

Up Bay, nicknamed "The Theatre Platform" (supposedly after a short-lived evening service to Wimbledon) although it was never signalled for passenger working - a small mystery waiting to be solved. |

In 1929 these sidings would be removed to make way for the new railway from Wimbledon that climbed through a cutting between the line from Cheam and the houses backing onto the railway. It approached the railway seen here almost at a right angle, leading to a sharp bend about seven metres below the line from Cheam before it climbed the join the mainline just before the station. EPW028240 shows the construction under way between the houses and the older line, where the up slow line from Cheam has also been cut short to make room for the new route and the concrete retaining wall built between the railways. |

This four track section of railway between Sutton and Cheam allowed fast trains to over take stopping trains. There is a short steam hauled train on the down fast line. |
