this building was home to Bessemer converters when it was built in 1862 it was the first factory designed specially for Bessemer converters. |

all this land on the south side was known as the new side. the 2 halves of the works were connected by a subway under the mainline railway |

No, this is not the Huddersfield line, which ran from the other side of the main line. It's actually an internal rail line connecting the "Old side" to the "New Side", this being where the Siemens shop and tyre mill was located. It passed underneath the main line. |
