East Ham Tram Car Sheds. East Ham took the honour for being the first local authority in the metropolitan area to inaugurate electric tramways in 1901. These sheds were opened with a capacity for 25 cars, but an increased fleet saw it extended in 1909. Next door stood the electricity works for the power needed. Trolleybus routes commenced here from 12th September 1937 but East Ham sheds was not destined to become a trolleybus depot. A turning circle which turned from Barking Road into Wellington Road, then along Nelson Street, High Street South, and back into Barking Road was provided for trolleybuses that terminated at East Ham Town Hall. |

This was the site of Co-operative Department Store in East Ham. I believe it was one of the first in London. It was demolished over 20 years ago and the site is now a car park. |
