During 1926 24 Comms Sqn were at Kenley equipped with Bristol F2Bs, alongside 32 Sqn which had Gloster Grebe IIs until September when they re-equipped with Gamecocks. |

Kenley was first used as an airfield by the Royal Flying Corps in 1917, in World War I. It probably still looked much as it does here in 1935. At some time after that date, but I think before World War II, two runways were built. One obliterated Water House and ran diagonally across Hayes Lane which was reduced to an airport track. The RAF used Kenley as one of three Fighter Command stations in World War II, to defend London. The others were Croydon and Biggin Hill. The WWII configuration has largely been retained - it was designated a conservation area in 2006 |
