Linacre Road railway station. This station was closed in 1951 as was the next station called Ford before the line reached Aintree. Until closure there were regular electric train services between Aintree Sefton Arms station and Liverpool Exchange through the North Mersey Branch Junction and Bootle stations. The only passenger services to Aintree after 1951, were during the Grand National meeting These services were provided by the Overhead Railway until 1956 , this railway closing later that year. |

North Mersey Branch Junction. The railway line curving to the south connects to the Southport line and was used by electric trains from Aintree to Liverpool Exchange until 1951 This line still exists to Aintree only, but singled, and is in a very poor condition. There were possibilities that a Merseyrail service would be reinstated to Aintree serving the Giro Centre close to the old Ford station, but no further news on this happening. |

Yes, this was the main workshop of the Overhead Railway, which had just replaced the original Seaforth Sands station as the original works was ousted by the Gladstone Dock works. |

The dock was completed in 1927 so this looks like it is a picture taking before the dock was fully operational, hence the lack of deep sea vessels. |
