St James Church, now St Edmundsbury Cathedral. The Millennium Tower (visible in attached photo) was added in 2000, completing the architect's design for the Cathedral. Next to St James Church is the Norman Tower (bell tower). See from the attached photo how much the area at the top of this image has been built on. Much of this was formerly council housing, currently (2015) owned by Havebury Housing Association. The Sugar Beet factory is prominent in the top L of the attached photo.

The Guildhall Feoffment School established in the 1840s by the Guildhall Feoffment Trust and set amidst the Greene King brewery. The school playgrounds smelt strongly of hops.
