Actually it was 1966 ! Remember waking up in the morning and seeing the sky all red ....I was 9 years old then - was particularly annoyed because me and my mates used to go fishing for sticklebacks and red throats in the river in front of it............That all ended after the fire. |

It was not Ruffells, it was Reffells brewery and it closed in 1956, when Courage took them over. |
