Strange to see this as was, I can remember playing on a massive bomb site in Westbourne Grove where the Hallfield estate now stands, I can still remember the damp smell and yellow flowers, one thing that sticks in my mind were lots of grey metal square boxes dumped, in later life I realised they were electrical capacitors, presumably bought as part of a war surplus job lot with no takers and no scrap value! Many years later in the early 70s I helped remove the organ (being a church organ builder) from the church at the top of the photo before it was demolished. |
