Hi Dylan,

Thanks for spending time on this image to spot it! We'll update the catalogue and post your new data here in due course.

Turns out there are some later Aerofilms images in this location which we had more information for, and could catalogue; so it's great to give this image a proper place too.

Looks like a gasometer.

I would love to be able to identify this group of photos. I think that the heavy industry in the background of some narrows down the location significantly. There are also many fields with ponds in them which is a characteristic of the Cheshire Plain. There are water features near the heavy industry but I do not see a coastline. In one photo I thought I detected a haze over the top of cooling towers. Is the heavy industry a steelworks, coke ovens or a colliery or a combination of all three?

Where is this likely to be located? We are told it is in England. I suspect it is Cheshire or Yorkshire but I can't pin it down.

Good luck everyone.

Well I doubt you are far off, the original Aerofilms Ltd Register entry places this in Warrington. Unfortunately we couldn't get anywhere with it but hopefully you'll have more luck!

The set EPW032580 to EPW032591 are all in the same area and part of the same series - same fields, houses, roads, dew ponds etc feature in them all. Previous shots EPW032574 to EPW032579 were of City Saw Mills, Fall Ings and Stennard Diamond Coal Cutter works, Wakefield, Yorkshire.

Almost exactly the same view as in EPW032583. Both have the same large building on the horizon, people in the field in the foreground etc.
